Job Details

The host group studies the cell-cell signalling interactions that control organ development in mouse embryos and progenitor/stem cells by combining mouse molecular genetic and epigenetic analysis with chromatin biochemistry and cellular analyses. The genome-wide and mouse genetics approach to identify the underlying regulatory mechanisms and interactions are at the cutting edge of developmental and stem cell biology. The research is financed by the ERC and SNF - for more information please check our website (see below) and the following relevant publications: Zuniga, 2015, Development 142, 3810ff, Lopez-Rios et al., 2014, Nature 511, 46ff and Osterwalder et al., 2014, Dev. Cell 31, 345ff).

Your assignments

The successful candidate will generate chimeric mice by ES cell aggregation and directly participate in research projects involving genetic analysis of mouse embryonic development in close interaction with the postdoctoral fellows and PhD students in the group. In addition, she/he will spend about 10-15% of their work time with lab management/support duties.

Your profile

The successful applicant must have trained either as a technician or hold a MSc in the Life Sciences (e.g. Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or similar). In addition, the applicant must have one to several years of practical experience in molecular biology and in using mice for research. FELASA or Swiss LTK-1certification for animal research and/or expertise in generating mice from CRISPR genome-edited mESCs using the aggregation chimera technique are additional assets for this position.

We offer you

We offer a stimulating and highly competitive research environment as part of a young and dynamic international team at the Department of Biomedicine, which is located in a modern institute with state-of-the-art research facilities. The working language is English; therefore knowledge of this language is required.
