An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Employer Liaison Manager to join the Student Development and Engagement team within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Auckland. The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading University. We employ over 5400 academic and professional staff to support over 41,000 students making us one of NZ’s largest employers. The Faculty of Engineering is the country’s largest and most successful with a roll of more than 3,900 students.  The Employer Liaison Manager will work as part of the Student Engagement team that supports students throughout the student life-cycle and transitions them into employment.

Main purpose of the position:

  • Initiate, develop and support strategic alliances with employers that promote the University as the preferred source of graduate candidates

  • Deepen relationships and enhance the range of opportunities for businesses to enage with the University and benefit students from both an academic and careers perspective.

  • In conjunction with Career Development and Employment Services, hold overall responsibility for all career development programmes in the Faculty

  • Play an active role in the operation of practicum requirements

Key qualifications, skills and experience required

  • Tertiary qualification or relevant experience

  • Relationship Manager skills dealing across internal and external stakeholders in a complex organisational environment

  • Networking and interpersonal skills

  • Strong presentation and negotiating skills

  • Experience working in an environment requiring high levels of customer service delivery

  • Experience of working with tertiary students or academics

  • Understanding of equity issues in New Zealand

  • Understanding of the New Zealand tertiary education sector

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Management of a complex professional environment with a diverse range of strategic objectives.

  • Experience in graduate recruitment
