Job Details

For a large new mixed-methods natural experiment study investigating whether public health engagement in licensing of local councils in England and Scotland has a measurable impact on health harms and crime rates, we are looking for a highly motivated statistician, epidemiologist or public health researcher with expertise in time series analyses and with an affinity for public health and research on alcohol-harms reduction.

The successful candidate will join a multi-centre national collaboration led by Stirling University, but with the work package on quantitative evaluation of the natural experiment led by The University of Bristol. This project, EXILENS, is funded by NIHR and will be conducted from 2017 until 2020. The post is based in Bristol and the work includes the coordination of the ‘Alcohol harms evaluations’ work package, and involves the collection, linkage and analyses of local area-level time series data. The RA will work directly with the Bristol PI (Dr de Vocht), but also with colleagues from the other collaborating institutes, including the PI at Stirling University. The successful candidate is expected to have a BSc and/or MSc, but ideally should have a PhD, in epidemiology, statistics, public health or a cognate discipline, and has experience in time series or other longitudinal statistical data analyses.
The role is offered to the successful candidate as open-ended with fixed funding (80%) until March 31, 2020.

Name, tel no and email details for informal contact: Dr. Frank de Vocht. Tel. +44(0)117 928 7239 email: frank.devocht@bristol.ac.uk
