Job Details

Are you keen to pursue a career in a fast moving industry? Do you have a background in Analytics and/or Statistics? Do you want to further your career by leading a challenging collaborative project that breaks new ground in predictive modelling?

We have an opportunity for a graduate with an Analytics related and/or Statistics MSc or PhD, to fast track their career into business by successfully leading a high profile and strategically important project in the music industry, an exciting and fast moving creative sector. Through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), you will be working in partnership with a leading Dance label based in Blackburn and Leeds University Business School to develop a system utilising statistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence and decision science methodologies. The system will support and enhance the identification of new musical talent and maximise the profitability of the talent identification process.

You will require analytical skills to evaluate the data available both internally and externally and develop this into a measure that is both understandable and capable of being translated into deployable strategies in the organisation. The decision science methodology (or methodologies) and reporting process put in place must be both robust and sustainable. Technically, the challenge will be to identify the most suitable predictive tools and attain the highest level of competency in the use of those tools in order to design and develop a working prototype which can be used by the Artists & Repertoire (A&R;) teams in the company to augment their skills in discovering new talent. In addition, you must be capable of recognising the commercial opportunities that the project presents; commercial exposure will be ensured throughout the project. This project is fully supported by senior management and is high profile within the company.

You will be based at the company premises in Blackburn, but will be employed by the University of Leeds for the duration of the project for a fixed period of 2 years and 3 months. Members of the University’s Business School will provide academic and technical support to you throughout the project.

You will be required to attend a residential KTP training, management and personal development course as well as project-appropriate courses/conferences, for which time is allocated and funding provided, with a training package worth £4,500.

The interview date for this role will be 12th June 2017 in Blackburn (at the company premises).
