Continuing on the success of the Academic Clinical Lectureship scheme at the University of Bristol, we are able to invite applications for a post in Medical Oncology. This post provides an excellent opportunity for an oncology trainee with outstanding potential, to develop a successful career in academic oncology within a thriving and supportive environment. Clinical training will be based in the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre, University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. Research opportunities and environments are available in laboratory sciences, clinical sciences, health services research and epidemiology within the University of Bristol and NHS research groups.
The Clinical Lectureship is designed to provide postdoctoral support for a talented clinical academic with a bona fide interest in this discipline who has submitted their higher degree (PhD, MD or equivalent) prior to applying for the post. The Lectureship provides 50% salary support to allow the clinician to set aside time to develop their academic skills with the remaining 50% funding for clinical training.
The Lectureship is available for a maximum of four years and should enable the completion of medical oncology training, as well as the attainment of further support for research (e.g. intermediate or postdoctoral fellowship or personal grants) and experience in teaching.
The research interests of applicants should complement existing research programmes. Prospective candidates are encouraged to contact Prof Richard Martin (richard.martin@bristol.ac.uk) for an informal discussion of the post including how the candidate’s particular research direction can be supported, Dr Jeremy Braybrooke (Jeremy,braybrooke@UHBristol.nhs.uk) regarding clinical matters and/or Prof Debbie Sharp (debbie.sharp@bristol.ac.uk) for information on clinical academic training in Bristol.
