The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research)

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) is a member of the senior executive group of the University, providing leadership and advice to the Vice-Chancellor, particularly on strategies to develop the highest quality research and research training.

The position reports to the Vice-Chancellor and has a number of direct reports including the Pro-Vice- Chancellor (Research), the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research Infrastructure), the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Training), Dean Graduate School, and the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research Partnerships), as well as several Institute and Centre Directors.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) works closely with other key senior leaders:

  • The Provost, who oversees the Executive Deans and Research Institute Directors, to promote and champion the research agenda within the University and to attract the substantial research funding income required to sustain high quality research endeavours.
  • The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement), to develop strategically important research linkages with key national and international institutions.

 

The University seeks to appoint an inspiring, experienced and strategic leader. The person will need to be effective in a large, comprehensive university and able to support a whole of university research agenda. The position calls for a team player and accomplished communicator who is driven, consultative and capable of embracing innovation.
