Details

Heterocyclic motifs form the basis of many active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and new hit/lead molecules against disease targets. More effective methods for their preparation are needed, in order to expedite access desirable molecular characteristics and also to make efficient use of limited natural resources.

This project will explore new modes of reactivity based on metal-catalysed activation to access highly efficient new annulations that are applicable to different heterocyclic classes. This project will involve discovery and develop of new transformations, their optimisation and application as well as mechanistic probes.
