Lille Economics and Management (LEM, CNRS) and IÉSEG School of Management invite applications for a 3-year, fully funded PhD position in Economics with the emphasis on economics of risk and uncertainty and climate change economics at its Lille campus starting in September 2018.

The PhD project will contribute to the research project INDUCED (Integrating Deep Uncertainty in Climate Change Modelling) whose objective is to propose new ways of incorporating preferences people have with respect to deep uncertainty in the decision-making processes related to climate policy. The project is in collaboration with researchers from Bocconi University.

The global aim of the French-Italian collaboration is to address long-lasting cooperation in decision-making under uncertainty regarding environmental issues.
 
 

Qualification of the PhD Candidate

  • Obtained a Master’s degree in Economics. He/she has graduated with excellent grades.
  • A high interest and motivation for topics related to decision theory, experimental economics, environmental and climate change economics is essential. Ideally, the candidate will possess a background in one or two of these fields.
  • Good quantitative and mathematical skills, interest in economic theory, and fluency in English are required.

 

Working Conditions of the PhD Candidate

  • The PhD students will work under the conditions of a research contract for a period of 3 years, starting in September 2018. Salary conditions are competitive in line with the French research system.
  • The appointment includes the writing of a dissertation in the candidate’s field of interest, providing support for the research project and possibly teaching.

 

Supervision of the PhD Candidate

The successful candidate will become part of the LEM and be a member of the doctoral school. He/she will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team by Profs. Loïc Berger, Louis Eeckhoudt, David Crainich, and Giuseppe Attanasi, and surrounded by their international research networks.

The candidate is also expected to spend a substantial proportion of his/her time at Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and Bocconi University in Milan.
