The Felix Platter Hospital for University Medicine of Aging in Basel, and Nursing Science (INS) at the University of Basel (http://nursing.unibas.ch), invite applications for the position of a PhD student to join the Frailty & Multisystem Dysregulation Research Group. The candidate will contribute to the GERAS (Exploring frailty and mild cognitive impairment in kidney transplantation to predict biomedical, psychological and health cost outcomes) project. GERAS is a nationwide multi-center study with adult kidney transplant recipients, to examine frailty and mild cognitive impairment, form a comprehensive bio-psychosocial and health economic perspective. It will provide evidence for healthcare professionals to better identify patients most at risk for adverse outcomes. This can guide early intervention and tailor pre- and post-transplant care, policy development and resource allocation aiming to improve outcomes for the growing cohort of elderly and frail kidney transplant recipients.

 

Your position

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Achieve his/her PhD in Nursing Science within a timeframe of 3-4 years
  • Contribute to the data collection, data analysis and dissemination of the GERAS project.
  • Participate in teaching activities of the Master in Nursing Science curriculum

 

Your profile

  • A master degree in Nursing Science, Public Health, Medicine, Health Economics or another field of health sciences or Master degree from a University of Applied Sciences of similar fields with outstanding grades;
  • Experience in geriatric nursing is highly desirable;
  • Sound knowledge of Office software (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel);
  • Sound methodological and statistical skills and sound knowledge of statistical analysis software such as R or STATA or the willingness to develop these skills and knowledge;
  • Proficiency in German (level C2) and Swiss German, good oral and written English skills;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
