Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Adelaide Medical School

Full-time, fixed term position for 12 months available immediately with the option of part-time employment

The Critical and Ethical Mental Health research group (CEMH), part of the Robinson Research Institute at the University of Adelaide, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the John M Nardo Postdoctoral Fellowship.

CEMH has established the Fellowship to help carry out restorations of unreported or misreported trials under the RIAT (restoring invisible and abandoned trials) initiative. The Fellowship is named in honour of Mickey Nardo (1 Boring Old Man), whose contributions to the field of psychiatry are renowned, from outstanding patient-centred care, to rigorous analysis of clinical trial data relating to psychiatric drugs.

Mickey was a leader in the landmark research resulting in the prestigious BMJ publication of 'Restoring Study 329', our reanalysis of the infamous Study 329 of the antidepressant paroxetine for adolescent depression.

The position will initially be offered for one year at 0.8 FTE through funding from the newly established RIAT Support Centre at the University of Maryland. The successful applicant will work with an international team of experts, with the primary task of reanalysing data from the influential and controversial Treatment of Adolescents with Depression Study (TADS).

To be successful you will need:

• PhD or equivalent in psychiatry, epidemiology, health statistics, psychology, public health or a related field.
• Experience with the development and management of research projects and understanding of clinical trials
• Understanding of research integrity
• Substantial knowledge of recording and analysing results, and preparing written communications, grant and manuscript submissions
• Proven high level statistical analysis and interpretation skills
