The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) on Galveston Island is seeking strong candidates to serve as Chair of the Department of Neurology. Candidates with the rank of Professor/Associate Professor (tenure appointment commensurate with qualifications) and with strong clinical and research experience will be considered. The strongest candidates will also have entrepreneurial and management skills and experience commensurate with leading the department through an aggressive expansion as part of our newly revised institutional strategic plan. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills, be board certified in Neurology and will be nationally recognized for his/her contributions to the field.

The Department of Neurology has a long-standing tradition of excellence in patient care, research and education. Currently, there are 17 faculty members in the department, including two research scientists. Faculty members supervise ten Neurology residents as part of an ACGME accredited program. The department is closely affiliated with the Mitchell Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases- a center nationally recognized for the discovery, testing, development, and application of new treatments for neurodegenerative disorders. The department is actively working toward being approved by the State as a designated Stroke Center.
