Essential Responsibilities:
As the Manager for the Renewable Energy & Power Systems Laboratory, you will lead a team of approximately 15 scientists and engineers at GE Global Research - Europe within the Electrical Technologies and Systems Organization. The focus will be to partner with the technology leaders, principal engineers and business on the long-term solar and power systems vision, drive electronics systems & technology inventions, and transfer these inventions from GE Corporate to the business. It will be important to establish key internal and external collaborations, and to recruit top technical talent.
As the Manager for the Renewable Energy & Power Systems Laboratory, you will:
Provide and expand technical leadership in solar & power systems technology for GE businesses;
Work closely with the technology leader and GE business leadership to develop/refine the vision and strategy for the Renewable Energy & Power Systems Laboratory, and alignment of that vision and strategy with the “sister” Renewables and Power Systems / Electronics Labs in Niskayuna, Shanghai, Bangalore and other labs in Munich;
Recruit top talent, mentor and coach team members; staff interdisciplinary teams by drawing appropriate resources from across GE;
Drive technology program execution and technology transition to the business, meeting deliverables, budgets, and schedules, while also contributing technically to projects;
Develop networks in the GE businesses, with external commercial customers, and with Academia and External Research Partners;
Represent and promote GE's renewables and power systems research in the technical community;
Exemplify GE leadership values and make full use of GE initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements:
Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
At least five years of relevant experience in research and development in renewable / power systems or related technologies.
Technical project leadership experience.
Demonstrated impact, leadership capability and ability to lead, build and energize cross-functional, global teams in high-impact technology.
Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs and industry trends; simplify strategy into specific actions, make decisions, and communicate priorities.
Demonstrated ability to influence at senior levels.

Desired Characteristics:
Doctorate in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mathematics .
Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification or in progress.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
