Speciality Doctor - Psychiatry- South West London - Secure Mental Health - £60,0000 - £72,000
STR Health are recruiting an experienced Psychiatrist within adult mental health. Our clients focus on serious mental illness within adult age range presenting with challenging behaviour & high dependency in a secure environment.
The role will be suitable for a GMC registered doctor that has specialised in Psychiatry with a minimum of two years experience with adults. There will be 1:3 on call duties, the standard hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm however flexibility is essential.
Main Duties of Speciality Grade doctor
Speciality Doctor provides day to day psychiatric and medical management of the patients on their ward under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist.
To admit new patients, assessment and working up of these cases including mental state and physical examination, organising the necessary investigations, presentation of cases in ward rounds and following up ward round based treatment plans.
To liaise with Therapy, Psychology and Social Work teams for multidisciplinary management of the case.
To liaise with referrers, family and other statutory and non-statutory organisations involved in patient care.
Participation in meetings like MDT case discussions, CPA meetings, Clinical
Improvement Groups is also expected. The doctor will ensure that up to date clinical information is available for the purposes of these meetings and any decisions relating to treatment plan are implemented.
To carry out ongoing review of management plans of patients under consultant's supervision.
To ensure that typed inpatient assessment and discharge summary are prepared and filed in the notes within two weeks of admission and discharge respectively.
Occasionally the doctor will need to act up and conduct the MDT ward rounds and attend Mental Health Review Tribunals on behalf of the consultant.
The doctor may be occasionally required to visit and assess patients at the site of referral. This may be carried out either by themselves or along with the Consultant or with another senior member of the team.
To participate in 1:3 first on-call rota done as one week in three. The on-call rota is non-residential. It will be expected that the doctor is able to arrive at the premises within a reasonable time when required during after-hours. There is a parallel consultant on-call rota with a consultant psychiatrist on-call for back up and supervision at all times.
In exchange my clients are offering an excellent salary of £60,000 to £72,000 depending on your experience. There is also an excellent benefits package available that will be discussed at interview.
