Associate Director, Medical Information, Europe. - Permanent role
Surrey based Pharmaceutical company, growing team, with diverse therapy area responsibilities.
Role
I'm handling a senior role in European Medical Information which is located west of London , in Middlesex. The role is working for a leading pharmaceutical company and involves providing medical and scientific input to therapeutic European Brand Team, in order to optimise commercial efficiency both at product launch and throughout the product life-cycle and to act as a specialist resource providing a more detailed knowledge of medical information used to support key communication messages and to present medical communications data to KOLS on request. Working within the anti infective group therapy area knowledge would be desirable but not essential. A medical qualification is not required for this position.
The role has an EU focus and requires some travel for KOL, vendor and product outreach initiatives.
1. Provide scientific/medical support and advice based on technical/medical information.
Co-ordinate the production of medical /scientific communications for a specific therapeutic brand for use by affiliates. These may be for external use with Healthcare professionals (e.g. Product Monographs) or be for internal use (e.g. Training manuals)
Write/prepare review papers, study reports etc for internal and external use
Provide advice to brand teams during the development of promotional materials for claims and ensure that appropriate clinical literature is available to support them.
Ensure that all materials comply with the UK Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry and is in-line with business strategy
Co-ordinate the collation of medical "competitor intelligence" information for dissemination to affiliate offices (e.g. symposium reports etc)
Manage the provision of literature searches, scientific and clinical literature reviews to key marketing and medical colleagues on a regular basis and on request to support activities
2. Liaison and co-ordination
Partner the European Associate Brand Director in the initiation, approval and implementation of marketing materials to optimise the marketing of products across Europe
Liaise with the European Associate Director, Medical Affairs in the provision of scientific advice to the European Brand Team and the Medical/Marketing teams of affiliates
Ensure efficient communication and co-operation with affiliate medical affairs and information departments to optimise the provision of medical information services
Manage external medical education agencies for specific projects
Responsible for providing initial brief to agency for project /activities
Liaising with agency on projects time lines and progress reporting to ensure timely completion of project
Attend internal and external meetings:
develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders
keep up-to-date with therapeutic area
3. Utilising information technology in the provision of information
Keep up-to-date of latest developments in information technology as applied in knowledge management as well as clinical and scientific matters
Works closely with all members of the European brand team and medical/marketing peers
Liaises with medical information managers/officers at Affiliate Offices in Europe
Works closely with scientific support department and library services
Essential Skills & Qualifications Required
Pharmacist or life science graduate
Previous experience in Medical information
Thorough knowledge of the UK Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry
Ability to work independently on assignments
Ability to identify and resolve project issues
Demonstrate strong organisational skills, including ability to prioritise
Strong clinical study management skills (including project and financial management)
Excellent presentation, organisation, negotiation and management skills
Software Competence Required
