Essential Responsibilities:
You will:
- Work with cross-functional global team to develop and apply physics-based life prediction methods/tools to high temperature components in power generation and propulsion equipments.
- Execute projects for the next generation turbomachinery lifing technologies.
- Communicate results to counterparts in the research center and at GE businesses.
- Document the results of this activity through patent applications, technical reports and publications generating research reports
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Doctorate degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines OR Masters degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with at least 3 years of post-degree experience in turbomachinery lifing.
- Demonstrate strong technical skills in solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, mechanical behavior of materials, finite element methods (including advanced meshing tools and non-linear analysis) & life prediction.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals at the Masters level for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
- Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

- Doctorate degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with one or more commercial finite element codes (e.g. ANSYS, ABAQUS, LS-DYNA)
- Experience in turbomachinary lifing.
- Experience in Thermo-Mechanical modeling of complex geometry components in ANSYS.
- Posses software programming skills (Fortran, C )
- Experimental experience is a plus.
- Knowledge and proficiency in finite element analysis and failure prediction methodologies is essential.
- Demonstrated Leadership skills
