As Senior Technician, Gene Discovery you will provide laboratory support and expertise to the Gene Discovery team, isolating and cloning genes. Using PCR, preparation of DNA, RNA and cDNA, agarose gel electrophoresis, restriction digests and ligations, bacterial transformations and analysis of sequence data, you will work closely with colleagues to develop exciting breakthrough genetic work. Whilst not essential, experience with gateway cloning and VectorNTI would be advantageous, and an appreciation of laboratory EH&S is essential.

 

Qualifications and Skills Required:

 

  • Biology based degree or equivalent.
  • Experience of gene cloning techniques.
  • Knowledge of molecular biology methodologies.
  • Practical work experience in a biotechnology environment advantageous.
