Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Women’s Health

School of Nursing

Appointment effective September 1, 2013

The School of Nursing at the University of Delaware invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Women’s Health to teach in our nationally recognized BSN and MSN programs. Candidates who possess research training, a beginning publication record, and exposure to the external funding process are preferred. Demonstrated expertise in the area of women’s health with additional experience in community health preferred. Doctorate required; doctoral candidates (ABD) will be considered. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist is a plus.

The School of Nursing (http://www.udel.edu/nursing/) is a thriving academic unit of 38 faculty, approximately 725 undergraduate students and 220 graduate students. The School boasts an award winning faculty including nationally recognized leaders in education and policy. A PhD in Nursing Science program was initiated in fall 2011. An on campus Nurse Managed Health Center, offering occupational and employee health, opened in 2010 and contributes to the academic mission and clinical environment for maintaining clinical competency. Faculty research in the School of Nursing is organized around three foci: Health Promotion & Risk Reduction across the Lifespan; Health System, Management, Policy & Education; and Management of Chronic Conditions.  Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications, the benefits package is one of the best in the nation, and faculty members have consistently received annual cost of living and merit salary increases.

The College of Health Sciences (http://www.udel.edu/chs/) includes the departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, Medical Laboratory Science, and Physical Therapy, and the School of Nursing. The College is poised to develop an exciting new collaborative clinical education and research complex on a recently acquired 272-acre tract of University property that is slated for development as a Science and Technology campus (http://www.udel.edu/star/). The College is partnering with several clinical institutions in the Delaware Health Sciences Alliance (http://www.delawarehsa.org/) to align resources to facilitate innovative collaborations among experts in medical practice, health economics and policy, population sciences, and public health, as well as the biomedical sciences and engineering.
