Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop methodologies for 0-D, 1-D and CFD applications for chemical kinetics in combustion systems
  • Validate and reduce kinetics mechanisms
  • Model combustion systems using commercial tools for prediction of emissions in gas turbines and reciprocating engines
  • Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • Demonstrated knowledge of combustion, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and reaction chemistry
  • Background in performing combustion simulations or experience using commercial engineering simulation/analysis tools (such as Fluent) or Chemical Reactor Networks to model combustion systems
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate, model and provide critical insight into complex physical phenomena
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

    Desired Characteristics:

  • Background in combustion kinetics & chemistry and modeling of combustion systems
  • Knowledge of FLUENT, CHEMKIN, CANTERA or other combustion/kinetics modeling programs
  • Experience working in teams and creating innovative technology solutions
  • Peer reviewed journal publications
  • Strong analytical skills
