Essential Responsibilities:
You will:

  • Work from drawings, sketches, instructions both verbal and written, etc. to install, diagnose, and repair a variety of electrical equipment.
  • Determine length of conduit, cables, wiring, location of conduit, switches, controls, outlets, etc.
  • Cut cable and wiring, splice as required, fit and assemble raceways, bend and thread conduit, make all connections, drill and cut openings, etc.
  • Diagnose, disassemble, and repair motors by rewiring, replace parts, assemble and test.
  • Use block and tackle, winches, and other lifting equipment as needed.
  • Build experimental test equipment including panel work as required.
  • Exercise care for the protection of all facilities and equipment and the safety of others. This includes keeping facilities, material, and work area orderly, exercising care in their use, maintaining good housekeeping practices, and performing to all safety and quality requirements.
  • Secure job assignments and partial instructions for complex work, conventional facilities and diverse materials. Plan sequence of operations. Select and obtain materials.
  • Perform a variety of electrical installations, maintenance and repair functions on all electrical circuitry, control equipment, switchgear, motors, transformers, rectifiers, electronic devices, test facilities and equipment, and others of similar complexity to close requirements such as sound electrical connections, proper circuitry, installation, safety, etc.
  • Qualifications/Requirements:

    • Associates Degree in Elec. Construction & Maintenance and at least 5 years experience in industrial construction maintenance, or High School diploma with Journeyman electrician credentials from State or Federal approved Apprentice Program with electrical experience in industrial construction maintenance, or at least 6 years proven military experience in industrial construction maintenance.

    • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and related technical documents.

    • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds repeatedly and frequently, carry, climb and work in elevated spaces and extreme temperatures.

    • Must have valid NY State drivers license and be able to drive cars and pick-up trucks.

    • Position requires ability to work overtime as needed.
    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
    • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
    • Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.

    Desired Characteristics:
    At least 5 years of experience in comparable industrial and/or laboratory process environment with experience installing, servicing and repairing complex electrical systems using specialized tools, techniques and in unusually complex operating environments.
