College of Humanities of Applied Human Sciences Psychology Pietermaritzburg Campus

The School of Applied Human Sciences offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in core and specialized areas in general and professional psychology, social work, criminology and media studies. The School also has a number of specialized research projects.

The person appointed to the advertised post will assist with coordination and teaching of modules in Psychology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

S/he will also be expected to contribute to other programmes and activities offered in the School, including supervision.

The appointee should have an interest in research, and will be expected to be actively engaged in research and publication, and to supervise postgraduate research at appropriate levels.

Minimum Requirements: Senior Lecturer

• A PhD degree in Psychology or a related discipline;
• A research and publication record at an appropriate level
• A record of successful postgraduate research supervision
• Ability to teach in two or more of the following fields: cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, data analysis, qualitative and quantitative research methods, assessment, developmental psychology, African psychology; research psychology and Lecturing experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Registration or eligibility for registration as a Psychologist with HPCSA

Minimum Requirements: Lecturer

• A Masters’ degree in Psychology or a related discipline;
• Evidence of an emerging research and publication record (as evidenced by participation in research projects and/or relevant publications in peer reviewed journals);
• Ability to teach in one or more of the following fields: cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, qualitative and quantitative research methods, assessment, developmental psychology, African psychology; research psychology and Lecturing or tutoring experience at tertiary level.
