LECTURER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be required to:

  • Present undergraduate and honours level lectures and practicals in the area of Food Technology with specialisation in Food Engineering and Packaging as recommendation;
  • Develop research programmes in research in Food Technology with specialisation  in Food Engineering and Packaging Food Science which will complement the current research focus;
  • Supervise postgraduate students;
  • Obtain grant funding.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A MSc-degree in Food Science or a related field;
  • Experience of undergraduate lecturing/tutoring;
  • Experience in Food Science research;
  • Documented proof of own research outputs in Food.

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

  • Experience in Food Science with specialisation in Food Engineering and Packaging research and teaching a recommendation;
  • Appropriate language and communication skills, both written and verbal.

 

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • PhD or must obtain a PhD within three years;
  • NRF-rated, or must be able to attain an NRF rating within five years.

 

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R 375 614 to R 497 258 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
