This is a fixed-term post available from 25 July 2016 to 24 July 2017 to cover a maternity leave. 

Hours of work: 22.5 per week (preferably Monday, Wednesday and Friday but some flexibility may be possible).

The post is based within the Library’s Scholarly Communications and Researcher Skills (SCoReS) Team which supports research activities undertaken by University staff and students in the following service areas:

  • Scholarly communications support and guidance
  • Open access advocacy and repositories management
  • Enquiries from staff and research students related to research activities
  • Staff development and teaching for research students related to research activities
  • Bibliometrics advice and support
  • Literature searching, including support for systematic literature reviews
  • Publications support for future research assessment exercises
  • Development and maintenance of the content of the Researcher@Library webpages or equivalent
  • Providing chargeable value added services for Leeds researchers under the auspices of the Library’s LUCID brand

 

The post-holder will co-ordinate teaching opportunities alongside other University providers for research students and staff from all disciplines, creating e-learning and other materials as appropriate. You will take the lead on delivering teaching to and responding to enquiries from research students and staff in STEM disciplines. You will undertake literature searches, primarily health-related to support systematic and other in depth literature reviews, sometimes on a charged for basis, and provide advice and support on literature searching methodology for research bids and project reports.  You will also contribute to the marketing and development of LUCID services.  

A graduate, you will have a relevant professional qualification or substantial relevant experience, with a good understanding of scholarly communications and research support. Confident with IT, you will have excellent teaching and communications skills, and be committed to excellent customer service.  Self-managing, you will be able to work under pressure, prioritising workload and be willing to change your working practice in response to service demands.  You will also have a good working knowledge of undertaking literature searches, preferably with experience of using health databases.

At Grade 7, you will also have relevant professional experience supporting research and of undertaking complex literature searches to support systematic reviews. You will also have contributed to policy and innovative working practices, and be experienced in delivering teaching and producing support materials, including e-learning resources.

University Grade 6 (£25,769 - £30,738 pro rata) or University grade 7 (£31,656 - £37,768 pro rata) depending on qualifications and experience
