Chair in Political Science/International Studies

Job Purpose

The purpose of this post is to provide academic and Intellectual leadership in Political Science or International Studies broadly defined. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of research grant capture and peer-review publication commensurate with the academic reputation of POLSIS and the wider school. S/he wil also be able to demonstrate tangible and sustained achievements in the development, design and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and supervision as well as significant and sustained experience of managing large research projects and institutional structures of research activity.

Person Specification

• A PhD in a relevant field,
• An international reputation for excellence in research and teaching,
• An established record of attracting external funding,
• skills in managing projects,
• extensive experience of fostering academic collaboration across disciplinary boundaries,
• experience of working within and leading internal and external networks,
• extensive experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision to doctoral level,
• a record as a good citizen
