A comprehensive X-Ray diffraction (XRD) Facility exists within the School of Chemical and Process Engineering. X-Ray diffraction (XRD) is a technique used for the determination of crystal structure. The Facility operates as a designated Small Research Facility (SRF) and is currently accessed by 130+ users from across the University. You will be responsible for the day to day management of the Facility. This will involve providing advice to Facility users, liaising with Faculty Finance to manage the budgets and ensuring the service continues to meet customer needs. In addition, you will contribute to the development of large interdisciplinary projects and research strategies linked to diffraction.

You will have a PhD (or close to completion) in Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry, or another science/engineering subject, or equivalent experience gained elsewhere, for example in an industrial laboratory. You will have considerable experience in X-Ray diffraction covering both experimental and data analysis. You will be well organised, with a high level of communication and interpersonal skills.
