The School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies (SPAIS) in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law at the University of Bristol is seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate to the position of Lecturer in British Politics. The new Lecturer will be expected to demonstrate his/her potential to contribute to the School’s existing research expertise, and enhance our capacity for collaborative funded research. They will be expected to convene and teach on existing core units in politics, as well as develop their own units that complement the School’s existing curricula at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

You should have acknowledged research expertise and/or outstanding potential in the field of British politics broadly conceived (for example this could encompass one or more of: British political and social history, party politics, electoral politics, gender politics, UK in comparative perspective). It is essential that you have a completed or near-to-completion doctorate in political science or cognate area relevant to this post and a high quality first degree in political science or cognate discipline relevant to this post. Relevant experience of teaching excellence and demonstrable enthusiasm for teaching/student experience as well as administrative and organisational skills is also essential.

The closing date for applications is 23:59 on 7 June 2016 and it is anticipated that interviews will take place week commencing 27 June 2016. The appointment is from 1 September 2016.
