Job Purpose

The University of Birmingham wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Philosophical Theology with expertise in one or more aspects of World Christianity. The candidate’s primary focus of expertise is relatively open: we welcome applications from scholars in the broad tradition of Christian philosophical theology, studied in relation to contemporary changes and challenges in Christian thought. This might include earlier Latin traditions, modern Continental traditions, or contemporary engagements between the Global North and the Global South.

Candidates may have expertise in historical or contemporary texts in the Western or Eastern Christian traditions, in contemporary issues of pluralism, in ecumenism, or in inter-religious engagement. The University of Birmingham has identified the public understanding of religion and the study of Pentecostalism as strategic areas: a willingness to collaborate with colleagues in these areas would be welcome.
