The Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology (EAIT) comprises the Schools of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical and Mining Engineering, and the Advanced Water Management Centre. These units are internationally recognised and their teaching and research successes create a stimulating environment within which the Faculty staff work.

The Faculty is managed by the Executive Dean, who has direct responsibility for the physical, financial and human resources, academic matters relating to programs and students, and a range of other areas such as the development of research, national and international marketing, and enhanced government, business and community links. The Role

The position of Educational Designer (Student Experience) will support Faculty staff to develop, embed and evaluate e-learning technologies, resources and pedagogies to enhance the student experience.  This role will contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching quality and support for student learning in the Faculty's coursework degree programs.

The Educational Designer will work with closely with the Associate Dean (Academic), School Teaching and Learning Chairs, and the Centre for eLearning Innovations and Partnerships in Science and Engineering (eLIPSE) within a newly created student experience enhancement team.

 

The Person 

Applicants should possess a relevant degree and education/training and experience in developing online resources to support student learning, preferably in an engineering, architecture or information technology sector. Candidates must have a proven ability and experience in using a range of technologies including learning platforms and associated software for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of online learning resources and environments to support student learning. In addition, the ability to apply pedagogical theory, contemporary practice and practical experience to analyse complex teaching and learning situations and apply high-level problem-solving skills to develop appropriate and innovative learning solutions is essential.

Applicants should also have highly-developed interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative linkages with diverse stakeholders, and a demonstrated commitment to responding to client needs.

 

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for two years at HEW Level 7. The remuneration package will be in the range $79,498 - $86,950 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $93,013 - $101,732 p.a.).
