The School of Social and Political Sciences is the largest school in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, with over 100 academic staff, many of whom have been appointed since the inception of the school in 2008. The school will shortly move to a state-of-the-art building, confirming the extraordinary investment in the social sciences at Sydney in the past five years. The Department of Government and International Relations is a comprehensive political science department, with particular expertise in international relations, international security, comparative politics, Australian politics, public policy and political theory.  Both politics and the social sciences generally were ranked 5/5 in the 2015 ERA exercise.
