The purpose of the Equity and Diversity Strategy area is to drive the University-wide Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and build organisational commitment and capability to deliver equity, diversity and inclusion outcomes, and to promote a workplace culture that values, fosters and utilises diversity and inclusion to achieve organisational goals.

We are currently seeking a Manager, Indigenous Employment and Cultural Diversity to develop, promote, implement and monitor policies, procedures, programs and initiatives with a particular focus on the Aboriginal employment framework of the Wingara Mura - Bunga Barrabugu strategy; the University’s diverse action plan to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation and employment. As Manager, Indigenous Employment and Cultural Diversity, you will also contribute to strategy and policy development and implementation relating to broader staff equity, diversity and inclusion.

Guided by the Director, Equity and Diversity strategy, you will advise and consult all levels of University staff to create and foster a diverse and inclusive environment.

 

As required by the Director, you will:

  • provide best practice diversity and inclusion information and policy advice
  • support University leaders and staff to implement and access equity and diversity policies, practices and initiatives, by providing them with useful tools and tips
  • partner with relevant external organisations, and report to external bodies on the University’s progress in the equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion arena.

 

As the Manager, Indigenous Employment and Cultural Diversity, you will focus on:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment, retention and career development
  • cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity and inclusion
  • building diverse leadership, education and research cohorts of Indigenous and culturally diverse staff for appointment to senior roles
  • coordinating data collection, development, reporting and compliance
  • coordinating diversity and inclusion advice, and capability development
  • working constructively across the University to deliver effective employment outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.

 

To perform this role, it is essential that the appointee be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. It is therefore an essential selection criterion and is authorised under the provisions of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Evidence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent must be provided with application.

Remuneration package: $130,801 - $138,015 p.a. (which includes a base salary Level 9 $110,528 - $116,624 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
