School of Economics

The UQ School of Economics is one of the largest, most influential and prestigious economics departments in Australia.

UQ Economics aims to deliver high-quality teaching in an intellectually stimulating environment. Our highly awarded teaching and research staff include some of the most internationally respected researchers. We design our courses and programs to deliver the skills, concepts and techniques critical to securing a successful career in an increasingly connected and competitive world.

Today, UQ Economics ranks among the top 50 economics departments in the world that conduct and publish research, according to RePEc—a collaborative effort of academics in 71 countries that base their rankings on scholarly data. Its diverse research strengths span economic theory, applied economics and econometrics.

Our talented economists rank among Australia's foremost researchers. These accomplished scholars, along with a growing cohort of exceptional junior academics, claim a disproportionate share of Australia's economics honours, competitive research grants, prestigious fellowships and high-quality publications.

The challenging academic environment at the School helps attract the brightest and best students in Australia and abroad, with 1300 students enrolled in the School, including more than 450 international students from 45 countries.

The Role

The position is primarily responsible for providing administrative support services to designated large courses. This includes responding to student enquiries, liaising with academic staff, preparing course materials and processing student administration matters.

The Person

Applicants should possess post-secondary qualifications (e.g. Certificate IV or Diploma) and relevant experience or training, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organisational abilities, and the capacity to work as part of a team are key.

Remuneration

This is a part time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 4. The remuneration package will be in the range of $57,698 - $61,462 p.a. (pro rata), plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range of $73,378 - $82,182 p.a. (pro rata)).
