The Office of the Registrar is seeking a results-oriented, self-motivated individual for the position of Business Analyst.  Reporting to the Project Management Lead, this individual will lead complex, multi-discipline investigations to enhance and create business processes, recommend solutions and alternatives to meet business needs and support solution implementations for the Office of the Registrar.

Duties

  • Analyzes business requirements originating from Office of the Registrar’s strategy, business plans, Executive group and internal/external clients and translates those requirements into business processes
  • Researches and analyzes system utilization; determines and proposes improvements
  • Meets with Office of the Registrar users to review and document business requirements and provides options, advice or recommendations regarding business process change, system functionality or customizations/fixes required
  • Works closely with service provider and Information Systems & Business Development team to document and translate business requirements in to technical solutions and ensures business requirements are built to client’s expectations
  • Participates in the technical strategy and analysis stages to resolve complex issues
  • Provides recommendations to enhance established processes and procedures
  • Participates in defining the initial project scope and supports the different phases of project implementation
  • Plans, directs and coordinates the activities of designated projects to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames
  • Ensures updates and changes to business processes are reflected in training programs
  • Performs other related duties as necessary


Qualifications

  • Related post-secondary diploma or degree in Computing Science or Management Information Systems; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Minimum two years of experience in a business analyst role
  • Experience in business process analysis and mapping
  • Certification in a Business Analysis program certified by International Institute of Business Analysts an asset
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Highly proficient in the use of relevant software (Visio, portfolio management and data analysis tools)
  • Proven report writing and presentation skills
  • Good knowledge of information technology development methodologies
  • Knowledge of post-secondary registrarial functions an asset
