Job Details
Project Title: Precision medicine for aggressive lymphoma
This post is available to start on or after 1 September 2015 for a fixed term of up to three years.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated individual to drive software development for a large collaborative project to apply precision medicine in the area of aggressive lymphomas. The project is in collaboration with the Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service (HMDS) at St. James University Hospital (Leeds), and the Universities of Southampton, Oxford, Cambridge and Queen Mary (London). Your main role will be in the planning, implementation and deployment of the bioinformatic software (including databases) needed by the consortium for the interrogation of molecular ‘Big Data’ using machine learning and bioinformatics analyses, and will be carried out within the Leeds MRC Medical Bioinformatics Centre and Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA).
You will have a first degree or Masters qualification in a relevant area, such as computer science or a related discipline, and will have software development or engineering experience. Enthusiasm to develop knowledge of the relevant biology is necessary. This would be an ideal post for someone aiming to establish a career in medical bioinformatics.
