Job Details

Main Purpose: The incumbent is responsible for all accounting and related administrative functions devoted to the following DVC (KIMIO) Cost Centres:

    Computer and Network Services Telephone Services Business Intelligence Systems Constituent Relationship Management DVC (KIMIO) Office

 

Key Responsibilities:

    The incumbent will ensure the accurate recording of income and expenditure of the departments. Prepare “Actual versus Budget” report, calculate forecasts, explaining variances and submit this report monthly to the Management Accounting Department. Complete monthly reconciliations and implement appropriate journal entries or instigate necessary corrections. Submit these reports and monthly reconciliations to the Financial Accounting Office. Provide financial and budgetary guidance and support to the departments and enable the ICT Finance Specialist to provide financial accountability for the DVC (KIM) portfolio. Provide the ICT Finance Specialist with financial information and assist in preparing the annual budget of DVC (KIM) portfolio. In the absence of the ICT Finance Specialist the incumbent will act in her position for all aspects of financial management within the departments including purchasing and expenditure control. Requirements:

    A recognized Accounting qualification. Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma. Demonstrated extensive experience in financial and budgetary business processes and reporting practices to meet the legislative and best practice requirements of a large and complex organisation and significant experience and high level understanding of service-based financial management and accounting principles and techniques. Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a proven personal commitment to achieving the highest levels of client focus along with proven ability to liaise and negotiate professionally with multiple stakeholders. Ability to develop, maintain and interpret financial policies and procedures. Experience in assisting a manager in developing annual budgets of R60-R100 million per annum. Good administrative and filing skills. Strong numeracy skills, analytical and good interpersonal skills. Good computer skills specifically including extensive experience with using spreadsheet and presentation programmes Good Verbal and Written communication skills.
 

Preferences:

    2-4 years work experience in a similar position, in an extensively computerized environment would be an advantage. Working  experience within the Tertiary Education Environment.
