Job Details

The Russell E. Horn Sr. Learning Center at Penn State Harrisburg invites applications for student workers for a wage position as a Peer Tutor beginning in the fall 2016 semester. Applications from graduate and undergraduate students are accepted in accounting, economics, finance, engineering, philosophy, language, mathematics, and science courses. Only graduate student applications are accepted for writing tutors.

Be sure to indicate the subjects/courses you wish to tutor in your cover letter and include the names of two professors the Learning Center may contact for a reference in your resume. Tutor schedules are flexible and tutors typically work between 5 and 20 hours per week. Students must have an overall GPA of 3.3 and an A or B+ in the course(s) they wish to tutor (completion of an equivalent course or equivalent expertise may be substituted for the actual course).

Tutors must have completed, or be in the process of completing by the end of the spring 2016 semester, at least 30 credits. For undergraduate students, one semester must have been completed at Penn State Harrisburg before being employed at the Learning Center (unless the applicant has prior experience as a peer tutor at another Penn State campus). Tutors may not have any current or prior judicial actions or cases within the Office of Student Conduct. All applications are retained and assured full consideration. Positions will be filled as needed. The Learning Center will contact you for an interview if an appropriate opening is available.
