Student Recruitment and Marketing Assistant

The School of Languages and Cultures (SLC) is one of the most successful in the UK. It has a wide range of provision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. It is well-known across the country for the range of its language offerings at undergraduate level, in particular its emphasis on lesser taught languages (e.g. Czech, Dutch, Catalan), all of which are organized under the umbrellas of French Studies, Germanic Studies (including Dutch and Luxembourgish), Hispanic Studies (including Portuguese and Catalan), and Russian and Slavonic Studies (including Czech and Polish). The School also runs five taught postgraduate degree courses in Applied Languages (Translation Studies, Intercultural Communication, Intercultural Communication and International Development, Multilingual Information Management and Screen Translation). All of these degrees involve the development of critical understanding of language and culture and their application in the language-related professions.

 

The Role

Working as part of the Recruitment and Marketing team, you will support student recruitment across the School, and be responsible for processing applications to the MA Crossways in Cultural Narratives (Erasmus Mundus). You will also assist with reviewing and updating the School’s webpages, and commission content from academic and other staff for use in marketing, publicity and websites for recruitment purposes. You will be educated to A level (or equivalent qualifications / experience) and have experience of working at a clerical/administrative level and excellent IT skills. The role requires significant interaction with senior academic staff, and more widely in the University, therefore excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
