Job Purpose

To create and contribute to the creation of knowledge by undertaking a specified range of activities within an established research programme and/or specific research project. Project will be focused on investigation the mechanisms underlying the effect of tetraspanin Tspan6 on tumour microenvironment. The work will involve the development of animal tumour models of breast cancer and the analysis of tumour microenvironment with a particular focus on characterisation of the tumour immune infiltrate. Signalling pathways linking tetraspanin 6 and tumourigenesis will be investigated using a variety of biochemical and cell biology approaches.

Person Specification

  • First degree in area of specialism and normally, a higher degree relevant to research area or equivalent qualifications
  • Pre- or postdoctoral research within fields of tumour cell biology/cell immunology and experience in animal tumour models is essential. Fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods and ability to contribute to developing new ones
  • Essential laboratory skills mammalian cell culture in 3 dimensional ECM, flow cytometry, adhesion, migration and proliferation assays, DNA and RNA transfection, confocal and TIRF microscopy and biochemistry and molecular biology (Western blot analysis, immunoprecipitation, preparation samples and performing proteomic analysis, PCR, DNA cloning).
