Job Details
The Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) is concerned with widening participation at the University of Leeds. We work with mature learners at undergraduate level as well as offering foundation years in a number of disciplines for students of all ages. The provision of an intellectually stimulating, practically grounded and highly supportive learning environment is core to our work.
We are looking to appoint a tutor in Business Management who will work across two areas of the LLC’s provision:
Business Management (c 80%)
The LLC’s Business programmes include the first two years of a four year full-time extended degree with foundation year and an entire five year part-time BSc taught through evening classes. The tutor will be responsible for modules in Operations Management, Management Consultancy and Strategic Management as well as being able to offer teaching across more general areas of Leadership and Management. S/he will also contribute to the broader academic, tutorial and pastoral support of students from pre-entry and admissions through to graduation.
Professional Studies (c 20%)
The BA Professional Studies is designed to equip students with an ability to examine issues from interdisciplinary perspectives and to acquire a range of professional skills sought by graduate employers. The appointee will work with the Programme Director on continued development and delivery of the professional dimensions of the programme to ensure that learners have opportunity to engage with a range of different sectors and employers.
Applicants must have exceptional skills as an educator with relevant experience of teaching at a HE level either in Higher Education or in Further Education. You must also have a strong record of working with learners from diverse backgrounds both in teaching and personal tutorial roles. It would be an advantage to be able to bring a diverse network of local employers in order to enrich engagement opportunities for students.
