We are seeking a biostatistician to support an NHMRC funded program grant under Professor Nick Buckley in the Discipline of Pharmacology. The program aims to address research gaps in key human toxicology issues and ensure rapid translation of these results into practice and regulation. You will provide high level statistical advice and support to researchers, collaborators, research fellows and research students concerning the design and appropriate statistical methodologies, with focus on one or more of the following: pharmaco-epidemiology of linked data sets, pharmacometric modelling, epidemiology, and clinical trials.

You will be working with internationally renowned experts, within one of only a few research collaborative groups in the world working in this area. The group includes national and international collaborators as well as overseas research sites in Sri Lanka.

To succeed in securing this role you will have:

  • a PhD or other postgraduate degree in biostatistics, statistics or other quantitative research techniques (or equivalent experience)
  • a history of research evidenced by peer reviewed publications
  • expertise and experience in fitting and interpreting complex statistical models
  • excellent data organisation and analysis skills
  • excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate statistical results to non-statisticians
  • computing skills in statistical software (e.g. SAS, R, Stata, SPSS).
  • experience as a statistician in pharmacometric, pharmacoepidemiology or health research (desirable).

 

The appointment would be for an initial term of two years with the possibility of renewal dependent upon funding and need.
