This post presents an outstanding opportunity to play a key role in a number of functions relating to the commercialisation of the University’s intellectual property (IP) including management of the University IP portfolio, negotiation of IP related agreements, creating an environment that enables the University to discharge its obligations to demonstrate the impact of its research for the benefit of the economy and society and ensuring the University meets its obligations under agreements with IP Group plc. Priorities and demands of the job will vary considerably on a daily basis but you will have responsibility for identifying, protecting and managing the University's IP through the University’s commercial assessment system (CAS), including drafting and negotiating IP-related agreements and managing the University’s patent portfolio.

You will manage a small team of staff. You will have a good honours degree or equivalent experience; a successful track record of drafting and negotiating IP related agreements such as licences and assignments, experience of patent formalities and also a strong grasp of aspects in other areas of key University business that will have an impact on the role. Experience of advising, managing, and executing processes and decisions relating to IP and its exploitation are also essential to this role.
