Job Purpose

The purpose of this post is to provide academic and intellectual leadership in International Development broadly defined. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of research grant capture and excellent peer-review publications commensurate with the level of the post. She/he will also be able to demonstrate sustained experience of managing large research projects, as well as tangible and sustained achievements in the development, design and delivery of postgraduate programmes and supervision.

The title of substantive Chair will be agreed with the successful candidate.

Person Specification

  • A PhD in a relevant field,
  • an international reputation for excellence in research and teaching demonstrated through an outstanding publications record and suitable teaching performance indicators,
  • an established record of attracting external funding,
  • skills in managing projects,
  • extensive experience of fostering academic collaboration across disciplinary boundaries,
  • experience of working within and leading internal and external networks,
  • extensive experience of postgraduate teaching,
  • innovative teaching delivery (included blended and distance learning) and supervision to doctoral level,
  • a record as a good citizen.
