Department of Ophthalmology
We are seeking to employ a full-time Research Technician to work in the Ocular Genetics Laboratory Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
The principle role of this position and the expertise required include; skills in extraction of DNA from blood, buccal swab and saliva samples, PCR sample DNA, mutational analysis of DNA, data analysis and presentation, management of laboratory supplies, knowledge of technical equipment utilized in genetics research as well as database searching for current literature and maintaining full and accurate research records. Experience with zebra fish husbandry would be an advantage.
This post is for 12 months in the first instance and if further research funding available it may be extended.
