The Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management (CLM) seeks to employ a capable individual in the position of Facilities Manager at the Wits Management Campus in Parktown, Johannesburg.

The job involves the strategic management and day-to-day operations of the physical facilities of the Management Campus which is shared by Wits Business School (WBS) and Wits School of Governance (WSG). The position reports to both schools and includes the overall infrastructure of the site, whereby the incumbent demonstrates the technical competence required for all on-site repairs and maintenance as well as implementation of University regulations.

 

 

Requirements:

    Preferably a degree/diploma in Facilities Management or a related field At least 8 years’ experience of which 4 years would have been in a management capacity Demonstrate ability to implement projects and manage contractors and ensure compliance Capacity to manage construction, people and procedures Ability to supervise cleaning and security staff to ensure a clean, safe and hygienic environment Strong leadership qualities and ability to motivate and manage a team Capacity to resolve and manage work (and resolve conflicts) according to tight deadlines Ability to exercise effective supervision of maintenance personnel and 3rd party contractors Demonstrate experience in financial, budgeting and procurement processes Competence in drawing up management reports Knowledge of Occupational, Health and Safety Legislation.
 

Duties:

The incumbent will be responsible for the planning, coordinating and managing of all activities and systems related to the following key performance areas:

    Access Control System:
      Ensure that the system is optimally functioning Oversee and/or supervise related staff members.
    Estate and Maintenance:
      ​​Liaise with various stakeholders to ensure the upkeep, upgrading and maintenance of all buildings and grounds on the Campus (especially including the teaching facilities and equipment which must be in excellent condition at all times) Manage sub-contractors of all types, for example electrical, building maintenance, information technology, waste management.
    Parking:
      Ensure that parking space is used optimally and under secure conditions. Computer Laboratory and Information.
    Technology:
      ​Ensure that the shared facilities and networks of the two schools operates efficiently, including classroom IT and audio-visual equipment Manage the on-site information technology staff accordingly.
    Printing and Catering Facilities:
      Manage the relevant service providers and ensure an uninterrupted and quality service delivery to all stakeholders.
    Safety Services:
      Manage related staff and ensure that the Campus is a safe and hygienic environment for all stakeholders Ensure that all statutory requirements, as prescribed by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, are met.
    Administration:
      Attend to all the administrative issues related to the above- mentioned tasks Provide Management with the necessary information and reports, as and when required, in order to facilitate good decision making and governance.
 

Remuneration: A competitive salary package will be offered depending on qualifications and experience.
