Job Details

The University of Bristol’s Department of Philosophy seeks a full-time Teaching Fellow in Philosophy for a fixed term of 10 months from 1st September 2016. The postholder will be expected to contribute to the department’s provision of the teaching of philosophy at undergraduate level.

 

Teaching needs are in:

  • feminist philosophy, 
  • Black philosophical thought and the philosophy of race and 
  • philosophy of language.

 

Experience of supervising undergraduate dissertations would be an advantage.

The postholder will be expected to handle administrative work related to his or her teaching, such as filling in marking and moderation forms, posting teaching materials on BlackBoard, and responding to student emails. They will be expected to carry out the marking associated with their teaching in a timely fashion. The postholder will be expected to serve as academic personal tutor for a number of undergraduate students; experience of this role would be an advantage.

The postholder will contribute their expertise to supervise independent dissertation projects, contribute to the administrative functioning of the department as appropriate, and undertake other teaching-related tasks as necessary.

The Appointment start date is 1st September 2016, with teaching commencing on 26 September.
