Job Details
The Academy is now seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive to succeed Dr Sue Meek who is stepping down on 1 July. Building on a very strong platform and supported by a team of professional staff, the future incumbent will lead the Academy through its next phase of development. A visionary leader and strong operator, he or she will be a passionate and effective advocate for the Sciences, with a real flair for communication and a passion for working with the Fellows of the Academy towards its strategic objectives.
Candidates will need to demonstrate their ability to work credibly with scientific communities and to represent science with real insight to government, industry, educational institutions and the wider public. The role requires astute and diplomatic leadership combined with entrepreneurial spirit, prior experience in stakeholder engagement, including philanthropic donors. As the senior administrator of a not-for-profit organisation, the future incumbent will need to excel in providing a sustainable and stimulating environment that allows staff to thrive and Fellows to leverage their excellence for the future of science.
