Faculty of Arts

Finance

The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading University.  It employs over 6,000 academic and professional staff to support over 42,000 students making us one of NZ’s largest employers. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Administrator to work across the Faculties of Arts and Law in a fixed term opportunity to provide parental leave cover for an eight month period.  The Faculty of Arts is the home of the Schools of Humanities, Social Sciences, Cultures, Languages and Linguistics, and Te Wānanga o Waipapa - School of Māori Studies and Pacific Studies. The Faculty of Law is ranked among the best Law Schools in the world, and offers the largest range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in New Zealand.

Reporting to the Director of Faculty Finance, you will be responsible for the provision of financial administration support and the provision of management information across both Faculties, ensuring all finance processes are carried out effectively and within University policy.  Duties will include the monitoring and administration of most student related expenditures, providing financial support and assistance in relation to Faculty Research activities, and the maintenance and monitoring of Capital Expenditure. Being part of a small team, you will also play a key role in supporting other members of the Finance Team as required.

Ideally you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or related business disciplines, coupled with experience working in a large organisation, and the ability to work to tight deadlines where necessary. High levels of customer service, attention to detail, as well as a continuous improvement focus are essential.

This is a great opportunity for an individual who is keen to develop and progress their career in a finance role, working in a professional, high-growth environment where you will be rewarded with working within one of Auckland’s largest and most diverse employers.
