Academic Facilitator: Mathematics for the UPP and BSc Extended Programs 5/8 (AY) (2 posts)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the Development Module in Mathematics in the UPP and BSc Extended Programs.
  • Provide academic assistance with curriculum and course design.
  • Assist with assessment.
  • Monitor the academic needs of cohort of Mathematics students in collaboration with the Module Coordinators.
  • Provide general administrative assistance.
  • Organise and present academic workshops to students.
  • Participate in curriculum development.


Inherent requirements:

  • BSc in Mathematics.
  • A good academic record.


Recommendations:

  • Willing to attend professional development activities and to enroll for post-graduate studies in Mathematics if not already attained by the time of appointment.
  • Experience in open learning/outcome–based learning and the related methodology.
  • Experience of facilitation or lecturing of all mathematical disciplines in a special access program.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Proven knowledge of the University Preparation Program.
  • Proven experience in the use of Blackboard and PeopleSoft.


Required competencies

  • Advance computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to function independently, as well as in team.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to function under pressure.
