At the University of Bergen, Department of Clinical Science, a full-time temporary position as researcher is available from 1 July 2016 - 30 June 2017. The position is part of the project «Phase II Trial to Evaluate Prevention of Infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis of H56:IC31, a novel TB vaccine, in Tanzanian Adolescents» financed by the Research Council of Norway, and coordinated by Professor Harleen Grewal at the Department of Clinical Science, University of Bergen.

 

Project

The proposed project will carry out a Phase II (safety and efficacy) trial of the novel H56: IC31 TB vaccine. As part of this trial, specific tasks will include the identification and characterization of biomarkers at the transcriptional and translational level that predict M. tuberculosis infection and the identification of correlates of protection. The project will be carried out within a large national and international collaborative network. We are seeking a dedicated candidate with laboratory experience in biomarker research in TB, with a focus on host biomarkers.

 

Research position

The main objectives would be to establish and validate multi-parameter or multi-analyte assays linked to TB biomarker discovery.

 

Qualifications and qualities

  • The applicant must hold a relevant Norwegian PhD-degree or equivalent doctoral degree.
  • The successful applicant must document experience in molecular biology, biostatistics, and with use of high throughput technology platforms, preferably in the field of tuberculosis research.
  • Personal skills, including abilities to cooperate within a research group will be evaluated
  • The applicant must be motivated and responsible, and also have a great work capacity and enthusiasm for research
  • The candidate must be fluent in written and oral English. Experience with international collaboration is an advantage

  • Researcher salary will be paid in accordance with level 59 - 62 (pay framework 24.3 - 24.6); at present NOK 500 300 - 528 800 gross p.a. for a full time position; following ordinary meriting regulations.
