Job Details

Shape the future of a unique strategic alliance between four of the nation’s foremost research-intensive universities: Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter. The GW4 Alliance is designed to catalyse discovery and creativity for the benefit of society, the economy, environment, health and the arts. Responsible for leading and managing this major research powerhouse, you will drive our ventures to the next level. We will look to you to further develop our 5 year research and innovation strategy and facilitate its delivery. Crucially, you will promote our agenda and initiatives at the highest level across a host of stakeholder organisations in diverse sectors.

To be equal to the challenge, you will need an extensive track record of success in building strategic and influential relationships with policy makers, funders and governments. Direct experience of strategic research and innovation partnerships spanning a range of science, social science, arts and humanities disciplines is vital. We expect you to demonstrate a proven ability to deliver large, collaborative projects within a complex environment. Naturally, you also will bring to the role substantial leadership experience in higher education, with up-to-the minute knowledge of research and policy.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity, please contact the Chair of the GW4 Board, Professor Guy Orpen at dvc@bristol.ac.uk or Bristol’s Head of Research Development, Lorna Colquhoun at lorna.colquhoun@bristol.ac.uk.

To apply, please click on the "Apply" button below. Applications should include a comprehensive CV along with a covering letter setting out your interest in the role and details of how you match the required criteria.  The CV and covering letter should be attached as one document.

Closing date: Sunday 19 June 2016.
