Commercial Development & Industry Partnerships (CDIP), as part of the DVCR Portfolio, is the commercial arm of the University. Its mission is to promote the technology, innovation and expertise generated by the University for social and economic impacts, proactively facilitating interactions between researchers, industry and the public sector and CDIP is committed to understand and find creative solutions to the specific needs of each of these sectors.

We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager – Health Sciences who will be responsible for identifying new engagement opportunities both locally and internationally within the faculty of Health Sciences, building on existing relationships with industry and other non-government organisations, including identifying opportunities for commercialisation of university generated intellectual property (IP) and identifying and coordinating opportunities for University-wide cross-faculty collaboration.

 

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • knowledge and appreciation of the biotechnology/medical and health research industry
  • ability to perceive new opportunities to develop and commercialise research through partnership with industry and develop strategies to capitalise on these opportunities
  • broad understanding of IP protection and management
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact across all required professional spheres; academic, administrative, clinical, public and corporate sectors
  • experience in evaluation of commercial opportunities from health based research or technology developments.
  • experience in the commercialisation of technology from public sector institutions
  • knowledge of current funding sources in the health-science sector with an emphasis on industry and community engagement (eg NHMRC, ARC Linkage and CRC-P programs)
  • appropriate academic qualification and/or extensive equivalent relevant experience in the Biotechnology/Medical and Health industry.
