The Division of Pediatrics at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas currently has an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, Term Tenure Track appointment to lead the Section of Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapies. This individual would be expected to advance a world-class program that cares for patients receiving cellular therapy for cancer and non-malignant disorders by designing and leading innovative investigator-initiated clinical trials, developing educational programs and maintaining a research, teaching, and clinical practice environment for trainees and clinical team members.  Preference will be given to applicants with experience in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation who have demonstrated expertise in a focused academic area of study, particularly cellular therapy or in novel approaches to the transplantation of solid tumors, brain tumors, or non-malignant disorders.

The Children’s Hospital at MD Anderson evaluates 700-800 new patients and consultations annually, many of whom seek care for aggressive malignancy.  Resources abound for significant contributions to understanding pediatric malignancy through interactions both within and outside of pediatrics, strengthening strategic alliances with pharmaceutical companies and promoting interdisciplinary / interdepartmental clinical activities and translational research programs to advance therapies.   The candidate should have skills to lead and develop new clinical/translational programs and should have demonstrated excellence and extensive clinical training and research accomplishments in the area.  We have an active fellowship program, faculty participation in COG, a survivorship program, and a vibrant supportive care program.

The faculty member must have completed an MD degree or equivalent in an accredited medical school, be certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics or equivalent, eligible for American Board of Pediatrics certification in Pediatric  Hematology/Oncology, and able to be licensed as a physician in the State of Texas. Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated clinical and laboratory expertise in a focused academic area of study.
